You can program up to four key fobs to your vehicle, ensuring everyone in the family can access and control the car.

Programming Your 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix Key Fob

Follow these steps carefully to program your key fob for your 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix:

  1. Get in the Driver’s Seat: Ensure you are seated in the driver’s seat of your Pontiac Grand Prix.
  2. Remove the Key: Take the ignition key completely out of the ignition lock cylinder.
  3. Close All Doors: Make sure all doors of your vehicle, including the trunk, are fully closed.
  4. Fuse Removal: Locate and remove the MALL PGM fuse from your vehicle’s fuse panel. Consult your owner’s manual if you are unsure of the fuse panel location or the MALL PGM fuse.
  5. Turn Ignition to ACC: Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the ACC (Accessory) position.
  6. ACC to OFF and Back: Cycle the ignition from ACC to OFF, and then back to ACC again within one second. This needs to be a quick sequence.
  7. Open and Close Door: Open and then close any vehicle door.
  8. Listen for the Chime: You should hear a chime sound. This chime indicates that the remote control door lock receiver has entered the programming/diagnostic mode. If you do not hear a chime, you will need to repeat the process from step 1.
  9. Program Transmitter: Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the key fob you wish to program simultaneously for approximately 14 seconds. After about 7 seconds, you might hear a chime confirming synchronization, and at approximately 14 seconds, another chime will confirm successful programming.
  10. Repeat for Additional Fobs: To program additional key fobs, repeat step 9 for each fob you wish to program. Remember, programming a new fob will erase all previously programmed fobs, so you must program all fobs you intend to use during this session.
  11. Remove Key: Take the ignition key out of the ignition lock cylinder.
  12. Reinstall Fuse: Put the MALL PGM fuse back into its original location in the fuse panel.
  13. Test Key Fobs: Thoroughly test all programmed key fobs to ensure they are working correctly, locking and unlocking the doors as expected.

By following these instructions, you should have successfully programmed your 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix key fob. Enjoy the convenience of keyless entry once again!
