Keyless entry remotes provide convenience and security for your vehicle. If you have a 2005 Toyota Solara and need to program a new or replacement key fob, you can easily do it yourself with these simple steps. This guide will walk you through the process to program your 2005 Toyota Solara Key Fob quickly and efficiently at home.
Before you begin, ensure you have your 2005 Toyota Solara key and the new key fob remote. Follow these instructions carefully to successfully program your remote.
Step 1: Initial Setup
Begin with your 2005 Toyota Solara in the following state:
- Key is removed from the ignition.
- Driver’s side door is open, and all other doors are closed.
- Driver’s side door is unlocked.
Step 2: Key Insertion Sequence
Within 5 seconds, perform the following actions:
- Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn it) and then immediately pull it out.
- Repeat this action once more – insert the key into the ignition (do not turn it) and immediately pull it out again.
Step 3: Door and Key Cycling
Within 40 seconds, complete these steps:
- Close and then open the driver’s side door.
- Repeat this door action – close and then open the driver’s side door again.
- Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn it) and then immediately pull it out.
Step 4: Final Programming Entry Sequence
Within 40 seconds, proceed with these actions:
- Close and then open the driver’s side door.
- Repeat the door action – close and then open the driver’s side door again.
- Insert the key into the ignition and leave it in the ignition.
- Close the driver’s side door.
- Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine) and then immediately turn it back to the OFF position.
- Remove the key from the ignition.
Step 5: Programming Mode Confirmation
Within 3 seconds of removing the key, the power door locks should automatically cycle (lock then unlock). This lock cycle indicates that you have successfully entered programming mode. If the locks do not cycle, return to Step 1 and repeat the process.
Step 6: Remote Programming
Within 40 seconds of entering programming mode:
- Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for about 1.5 seconds.
- Immediately after releasing both buttons, press and hold only the lock button for 2 seconds.
- Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle once (lock and then unlock) to confirm successful programming of the remote. If the door locks cycle twice, it indicates the remote was not accepted. In this case, repeat steps 6A and 6B.
- To program additional remotes, repeat steps 6A and 6B for each new remote.
Step 7: Exit Programming Mode
Open the driver’s side door to exit the programming mode.
You have now successfully programmed your 2005 Toyota Solara key fob. Test all the buttons on your remote to ensure they are working correctly. If you encounter any issues, double-check each step and repeat the programming process.
