I’m experiencing a frustrating no-start issue with my 2007 Lexus ES350 and haven’t been able to find a solution. I’m hoping someone can offer some guidance. Here’s what’s happening and what I’ve tried so far: The car simply won’t start, despite having a new car battery and a new key fob. When I push the start button with the brake pedal depressed, the button turns green, and the radio and HVAC system come on, along with the lights. However, the dashboard lights do not illuminate. Some lights, like the door and headlights, work, and the car alerts me to put it back in park if I shift out of park. Crucially, my OBD2 scanner won’t communicate with the car’s computer.
Here’s a rundown of what I’ve checked in an attempt to fix this. I started by examining the starter relay. I noticed that the power side that activates the relay isn’t getting power when I press the start button. As a test, I jumped the starter relay, and the starter motor does engage and turn the engine over, so the starter itself seems functional. I’ve meticulously checked all fuses, both under the hood and beneath the driver’s side dashboard. Grounding seems okay, as I tested engine and battery grounds with an ohmmeter, getting readings around 1.4 ohms. I even cleaned up the ground connections for good measure. Battery voltage is confirmed to be good. I also attempted a security system reset, suspecting it might be related, and I’ve disconnected the battery multiple times to reset the computer, but no luck.
I even had it towed to the Lexus dealership for a diagnostic. They quickly suggested replacing both fusible link blocks, quoting a hefty $700. I decided to handle this myself and purchased the parts from them, only to discover that the fusible links weren’t actually the problem. They were kind enough to refund the money and let me keep the parts, which I replaced anyway, just to be thorough. Still, the issue persists.
At this point, I’m completely stuck and unsure of what to try next. Could a low 2007 Lexus Es350 Key Fob Battery cause these symptoms, or is it likely something more significant? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
