2010 Cadillac SRX Key Fob Programming: Your DIY Guide

Lost your key fob or need to program a new one for your 2010 Cadillac SRX? Replacing a key fob can often seem like a dealership-only task, costing you time and money. However, for 2010 Cadillac SRX models equipped with keyless access, you can actually program a new key fob yourself right at home, without needing a recognized transmitter. This guide provides a simple, step-by-step process to get your new 2010 Cadillac Srx Key Fob programmed and working in about 30 minutes.

Step-by-Step Programming Guide for Your 2010 Cadillac SRX Key Fob

If you don’t have any currently working key fobs for your 2010 Cadillac SRX, don’t worry. You can still program up to eight new transmitters using this procedure. Please note that this feature might not be available in Canada. Ensure your vehicle is turned off and you have all the new key fobs you intend to program with you before starting.

  1. Initiate Programming Mode: Begin by using the vehicle key that comes with your new transmitter. Locate the key lock cylinder on the exterior of your driver’s side door. Insert the key and turn it to the unlock position five times in rapid succession, within a 10-second window. After performing this step correctly, the Driver Information Center (DIC) display inside your Cadillac SRX should show “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT”. This indicates that your vehicle has entered the key fob programming mode and is ready for the next steps.

  2. The Ten-Minute Wait for System Access: Now, you need to wait for ten minutes. During this time, the system is preparing to learn the new key fob. Keep an eye on the DIC. After approximately ten minutes have passed, the display will change to “PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN”. This is your signal to proceed to the next step.

  3. System Reset and Transmitter Erasure: Once you see “PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN” displayed on the DIC, press and release the ignition button. The DIC display will revert back to showing “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT”. You will need to repeat Step 2 (the ten-minute wait) and this step (pressing the ignition button) two more times. It’s crucial to understand that after the third repetition of this process, all previously programmed key fobs will be erased from the vehicle’s memory. This is a necessary step to allow the system to learn only the new transmitters you are about to program. The DIC display should then change to “READY FOR REMOTE # 1”, indicating the system is prepared to learn your first new 2010 Cadillac SRX key fob.

  4. Locate the Transmitter Pocket: Take your new transmitter and find the transmitter pocket inside your 2010 Cadillac SRX. This pocket is located within the center console storage area, between the driver and front passenger seats. Open the storage compartment and lift up the storage tray to access the transmitter pocket underneath.

  5. Learning the New Transmitter: Place the new key fob directly into this transmitter pocket. Next, press and release the ignition button once again. When the system successfully learns the new transmitter, the DIC display will update to indicate that it is “READY FOR REMOTE # 2” (or the next available number), signaling that it is ready to program the next key fob if you have more to program.

  6. Finalizing and Testing: Remove the newly programmed key fob from the transmitter pocket. To finalize the programming for this key fob and test its functionality, press either the “lock” or “unlock” button on the transmitter. You should now test all the buttons on your newly programmed 2010 Cadillac SRX key fob to ensure they are working correctly – locking and unlocking the doors, remote start (if equipped), and panic button.

By following these steps, you can successfully program a new 2010 Cadillac SRX key fob and regain full keyless access to your vehicle, saving time and potentially costly dealership fees.
