Programming Instructions
Here are the programming instructions for your new 2010 Chevrolet Traverse key. Please follow the instructions carefully.
For All Keys Lost/Misplaced (Requires a 30-Minute Process):
- Insert the new, cut key into the ignition cylinder and turn it to the ON position. The security light on the dashboard will illuminate and remain on for approximately 10 minutes. Once the security light turns off, you have a 1-minute window to proceed to the next step.
- Turn the ignition cylinder to the OFF position, and then back to the ON position. The security light will again illuminate for 10 minutes. When it goes off, you have one minute to proceed.
- Repeat step 2 one more time. Turn the ignition cylinder to the OFF position, and then back to the ON position. The security light will illuminate for a final 10-minute period.
- After the security light has turned off for the third time, turn the key to the OFF position and remove it from the ignition. The key is now successfully programmed, and any previously programmed keys that were not present during this process will be erased.
- Insert the newly programmed key back into the ignition and start your vehicle to test if the programming was successful.
To Add an Extra Key (Requires at Least One Existing Working Key):
- Insert an existing, programmed working key into the ignition cylinder.
- Turn the ignition to the ON position for 5 seconds, then turn it back to the OFF position.
- Remove the existing key and, within 5 seconds, insert the new, cut key into the ignition. Turn it to the ON position for 5 seconds.
- Turn the key to the OFF position, then back to the ON position. The new key is now programmed. Start your vehicle to test the key.
