  1. Enter your GX470 and ensure all doors are completely closed and locked.

  3. Remove the registered master key from the ignition switch.
  4. Unlock and open the driver’s side door, and leave the door open throughout the next steps.
  5. Within 5 seconds of opening the driver door, insert and remove the registered master key from the ignition switch twice.
  6. Within 40 seconds after step 5, close and then open the driver’s side door twice.
  7. Insert and remove the registered master key from the ignition switch one more time.
  8. Within 40 seconds after step 7, close and then open the driver’s side door twice again.
  9. Insert the registered master key into the ignition switch and close the driver’s door.
  10. Switch the ignition to the ON position and then immediately back to the OFF position – do this only once to enter key remote transmitter programming mode. This action retains previously programmed key codes while allowing you to add new ones.
  11. Remove the registered master key from the ignition switch. At this point, the system should automatically lock and unlock the vehicle doors one time to indicate successful entry into programming mode. If the doors lock and unlock twice, it indicates failure, and you will need to return to step 1 and repeat the process.
  12. Within 40 seconds of the doors locking and unlocking, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the new key fob simultaneously for about 1.5 seconds.
  13. Within 3 seconds after releasing the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons, press and release either the LOCK or the UNLOCK button on the key fob. If the programming is successful, the vehicle’s doors will lock and unlock once to confirm registration. If the doors lock and unlock twice, programming has failed for that remote. If it fails, repeat step 12 and 13 for that specific remote.
  14. If you have additional key fobs to program, repeat the button procedure from step 12 and 13 for each remaining remote within 40 seconds.
  15. To exit programming mode, you can simply open the driver’s door or insert the ignition key into the ignition switch.

Note: You can program a maximum of 4 key remote transmitters for your 2004 Lexus GX470. After programming, test all key fobs to ensure they are functioning correctly with your vehicle’s remote locking system. If you encounter any issues, double-check each step and try again.
