Save yourself time and money by following these instructions to get your new 2005 Toyota Sienna Key Fob working in minutes.

Preparation Before You Begin

Before you start the programming sequence for your 2005 Toyota Sienna key fob, ensure you’ve met the following prerequisites:

  1. Key Out of Ignition: Make absolutely certain that your key is not currently inserted in the ignition.
  2. Doors Unlocked: All doors of your Toyota Sienna must be in the unlocked position.
  3. Driver’s Door Open: The driver’s side door needs to be open and remain open throughout the initial steps of the programming process.

Once you have confirmed these conditions, you are ready to proceed with the programming steps for your 2005 Toyota Sienna key fob.

Programming Your 2005 Toyota Sienna Key Fob – Add Mode

This section outlines the exact steps to program your 2005 Toyota Sienna key fob in ‘Add Mode’. Follow each step carefully and quickly for successful programming.

  1. Insert and Remove Key (Twice): Rapidly insert your key into the ignition and remove it. Do this action twice in quick succession. Ensure you leave the key out of the ignition after the second removal.

  2. Close and Open Driver Door (Twice): Close the driver’s side door, and then open it again. Repeat this close and open cycle once more, leaving the driver’s door in the open position after the second cycle.

  3. Insert and Remove Key (Once): Insert the key into the ignition one more time, and then promptly remove it. Keep the key out of the ignition.

  4. Close and Open Driver Door (Twice, then Close): Close the driver’s door, then open it again. Repeat this close and open cycle once more. Finally, close the driver’s door and leave it closed.

  5. Insert Key and Leave in LOCK: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the “LOCK” position. Leave the key in the ignition in this position for the next steps.

Initiate Add Mode:

A1) Turn to ON, then LOCK: Turn the ignition key from “LOCK” to “ON” for approximately one second, and then turn it back to the “LOCK” position.

A2) Remove Key: Take the key completely out of the ignition.

A3) Listen for Lock/Unlock Cycle: Pay close attention and listen for the sound of your Sienna’s doors locking and then unlocking. This lock/unlock cycle is your confirmation that the system has entered programming mode.

A4) Press Lock and Unlock Simultaneously: On the key fob you are programming, press and hold both the “LOCK” and “UNLOCK” buttons at the same time for about 1 to 1.5 seconds, and then release both buttons.

A5) Immediately Press Unlock: Right after releasing the “LOCK” and “UNLOCK” buttons, immediately press the “UNLOCK” button by itself on the key fob.

A6) Check for System Response: Observe and listen for the vehicle’s response to determine if the programming was successful:

* **R1) Successful Programming (Lock/Unlock Once):** If you hear the doors lock and then unlock one time, this indicates that the remote has been successfully accepted and programmed. If you have another remote to program, immediately repeat steps A4 and A5 with the next remote. Otherwise, simply open the driver’s door to finalize the registration process.

* **R2) Unsuccessful Programming/Remote Already Registered (Lock/Unlock Twice):** If you hear the doors lock and then unlock twice, it could mean a couple of things. It's possible the remote was already programmed to the vehicle. Less likely, but possible, is that the timing was slightly off during steps A4 and A5. Try repeating steps A4 and A5 again, being precise with the timing. Keep attempting until you get the single lock/unlock confirmation. If you have another remote to program, proceed quickly to program it after a successful single lock/unlock confirmation. Once done with all remotes, open and close the driver door to secure the programming.

* **R3) No Response:** If you receive no response from the vehicle (no lock/unlock sounds), you will need to go back to the beginning of these instructions and carefully repeat all steps from step 1 onwards. Double check all preparation steps are correctly followed.

Once you receive the successful single lock/unlock confirmation (R1) for all your key fobs, open and close the driver’s door to exit the programming mode and finalize the registration.

Enjoy the convenience of your newly programmed 2005 Toyota Sienna key fob!
