For anyone planning to undertake this DIY key programming for their Volvo XC90, here are some practical tips based on the experience:

  • Be aware that bolts are generally M8 size, and screws are typically T25 Torx.
  • When removing the under-steering storage bin, start by locating and removing the two screws at the top, followed by disengaging the two clips situated below. After screw removal, the bin should pull straight out towards you.
  • The middle cable assemblies, identified by their black, green, and brown colors, are detached by rotating their respective retaining latches.
  • To remove the bottom green assembly, pull the black retaining latch towards you.
  • The top-middle green assembly requires pressing a tab located on the upper side of its housing to release it.
  • Success in non-destructively undoing the cable retaining clips, ties, and mounting posts was about 50% – patience is key.

By following these steps and using the recommended tools, programming new key fobs for your 2007 Volvo XC90 at home is a viable option. While it requires some technical умение and careful execution, the potential cost savings and satisfaction of DIY car maintenance make it a worthwhile endeavor. Good luck, and proceed with caution!
