Disassembling a 2010 Camaro Key Fob: A Step-by-Step Guide

First, you’ll need to remove the battery cover and the battery itself. Begin by flipping out the key blade to the open position. If you removed the push button from the key blade, first reattach it. Then, place the circuit board chip back into the front half of the key fob shell, ensuring it’s facing down in its designated position. Next, insert the key blade into its housing in the “out” or open position.

Now for the spring: place the spring back into the push button area. It should seat securely into a locked position. This spring is crucial for the flip mechanism to work correctly.

Carefully position the back face of the key fob onto the front face, aligning the two halves. Make sure the small “foot” of the spring is correctly positioned in its corresponding slot on the back face. This foot is what interacts with the rotating mechanism.

Hold the key fob assembly as shown, with your fingers gripping both halves. To re-tension the spring, rotate the back face in a counterclockwise direction.

Rotate the back face approximately two full revolutions counterclockwise. This will spring-load the key mechanism, allowing it to flip open correctly. Once rotated, firmly snap the two halves of the key fob shell back together. You should hear a click as they securely fasten. Apply even pressure to ensure the case is fully closed.

Finally, reinsert the battery and replace the battery cover. Press firmly to ensure it’s securely in place.

After reassembly, test your key fob to ensure all buttons are working and the flip mechanism operates smoothly.
