Replacement Transponder Chip Key for 2012 Chevy Tahoe

Are you in need of a spare or replacement ignition key for your 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe? Look no further! This brand-new, aftermarket transponder chip key is specifically designed for your vehicle, offering a reliable and cost-effective solution compared to dealership prices.

This key is a blank and must be professionally cut by a qualified automotive locksmith or at a hardware store. You can easily find a local locksmith by using this Locksmith Search tool. Please remember to bring proof of vehicle ownership, such as your title, registration, or insurance card, to ensure the locksmith can verify you are the rightful owner or authorized user.

The great news is that you can program this key yourself at home if you already have at least one working original key. No need for expensive trips to the dealership for programming!

This listing is for one replacement ignition key. Please note that we do not offer key cutting or programming services at our facility. You will need to contact a local locksmith for those services and to inquire about their specific pricing.

Important Note: This key contains a hidden transponder chip within the plastic head. This chip is an integral part of your 2012 Chevy Tahoe’s anti-theft security system. Therefore, it is essential that the key is both cut and programmed. Simply having the key cut will not allow you to start your vehicle’s engine. The programming process syncs the chip in the key with your Tahoe’s immobilizer system.

  1. Insert the new, cut key into the ignition cylinder and turn it to the ON position. Do not start the engine.

  7. After the security light has turned off for the third time, turn the key to the OFF position and remove it from the ignition.
  8. The key is now programmed, and all previous keys have been erased.
  9. Insert the newly programmed key back into the ignition and start your vehicle to test if the programming was successful.

Option 2: Adding an Extra Key (Must Have at Least One Existing Working Key)

This procedure allows you to add this new key while keeping your existing keys programmed.

  1. Insert your existing, programmed, and working key into the ignition cylinder.
  2. Turn the ignition to the ON position for 5 seconds. Then, turn the ignition back to the OFF position and remove the working key.
  3. Within 5 seconds of removing the working key, insert the new, cut key into the ignition cylinder and turn it to the ON position for 5 seconds.
