RETAIL ASSOCIATE ROLE: Become a Key Player in Customer Experience

As a Retail Associate, you are the face of Ross Stores, directly contributing to a positive and memorable shopping experience for every customer. You are responsible for creating welcoming interactions, offering assistance, and maintaining the store’s high standards of presentation and cleanliness. This role demands flexibility and engagement across various store functions, adapting to the evolving needs of our fast-paced retail environment. You may also be asked to undertake additional tasks to ensure exceptional customer service and smooth store operations.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety First: Prioritize safety in all actions and maintain a secure shopping environment.
  • Customer Engagement: Greet every customer with a genuine smile and friendly hello, creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout the store. Provide register assistance, help customers locate merchandise, and answer questions knowledgeably and courteously. Conclude each transaction with a “thank you”.
  • Responsive Service: Address customer service requests promptly and efficiently. Handle customer concerns with professionalism and seek assistance from Store Leadership when necessary.
  • Brand Representation: Uphold and promote the Ross Stores brand image at all times.
  • Store Maintenance: Perform essential cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning counters and mirrors, restocking restrooms, and sanitizing high-touch areas to maintain a clean and pleasant environment for customers and associates.
  • Professional Presentation: Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Ross Stores dress code.
  • Merchandise Standards: Execute daily sizing and recovery procedures to maintain organized and well-stocked sales floors, adhering to company best practices.
  • Efficient Stocking: Expedite the flow of new merchandise to the sales floor, ensuring items are merchandised according to company guidelines and monthly presentation standards. Maintain familiarity with merchandise and brand locations to effectively assist customers.
  • Loss Prevention Awareness: Understand and adhere to the Loss Prevention Awareness program and merchandise protection standards.
  • Integrity and Ethics: Represent Ross Stores with honesty and integrity in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information and company assets.
  • Inventory Management: Follow Mark-Out-of-Stock (MOS) procedures, correctly identifying and processing MOS merchandise and informing Store Leadership for approvals.
  • Cash Handling Procedures: Adhere to all policies related to cash, checks, credit cards, refunds, and voids. Maintain accuracy and vigilance when handling financial transactions.
  • Productivity and Efficiency: Demonstrate a sense of urgency and maximize efficiency by following store best practices and streamlining workflows.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and performing inventory tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to operate store equipment, including handheld devices (PDTs), registers, and computers.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the store for the majority of the workday.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other necessary supplies.
  • Stockroom roles may require the ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds regularly.

SUPERVISION:

  • This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
